with Research Orientation Teacher Development
WHERE: Held via Zoom webinar
WHEN: Tuesday, October 19th from 7-8 PM ET
The Students Teaching the Teachers Copyright Presentation and Research Orientation is an online event where the 2021 Next Generation Angels Awards winners will be presented with official copyrights for their films from the Library of Congress’ George Thuronyi, the Deputy Director of Public Information and Education at the U.S. Copyright Office. These copyrights will enshrine their work in the Library’s archives for decades to come and provide their recipients with a prestige worthy of their incredible work as burgeoning documentary filmmakers.
This event will also give educators an opportunity to learn about how they can integrate historical documentary filmmaking and digital archival research into their history and humanities curricula. Educators will learn about how they can accomplish this not only from historical archivists at the Library of Congress, but from the Next Generation Angels Awards winners themselves. This is an empowering opportunity for these student filmmakers, who will discuss their research process, take questions from teachers, and discuss how their process can be applied to classrooms everywhere to create an enriching and powerful classroom experience.
